ANNOUNCE: mhvtl-0.18-12 released

Mark Harvey
Administrator
This post was updated on .
I've released 0.18-12 which fixes a couple of significant errors.
- REQUEST SENSE handling.
- Incorrect positioning if a "space 0 blocks" or "space 0 filemarks" is issued.

The more complete list is:
  - Silence 'which setuidgid' test
  - Fix compile on 2.6.34 kernel
  - ERASE only from BOT
  - Test SPACE '0' blocks/filemarks before moving
  - Implement SILI bit test
  - Check if ERASE WORM media is allowed
  - Only support SPIN/SPOUT for LTO-4/5, T10K and 3592E05/6 drive types
  - Fix REQUEST SENSE page length. Previously only returning 8 bytes.
  - Fix REQUEST SENSE returned size
- Improvements
  - Re-organised code in vtllibrary to use a big jump table - in preparation for personality module.
  - Fix LTO5 media density reporting
  - Match HP ULTRIUM 4-SCSI

To ease the number of emails I receive asking for a copy by those who can not access google, I've uploaded them below.
mhvtl-0.18-12.i586.rpm
mhvtl-0.18-12.src.rpm
mhvtl-0.18-12.x86_64.rpm
mhvtl-2010-11-17.tgz

Cheers
Mark

Hi Mark,

this version seems to work well. I had no problems with it using Bacula tape backup software.

Status 96: You havn't correctly configured your barcode rules to define your media type the same as the drive types.
Also be aware, the default library_contents.XX contains SDLT600 media types (suffix with 'S3').

If the above does not point you in the right direction, please supply the output of the following commands:
/usr/openv/volmgr/bin/tpconfig -d
/usr/openv/volmgr/bin/vmquery -a -j
/usr/openv/volmgr/bin/vmquery -list_media_genrule
/usr/openv/netbackup/bin/admincmd/bpstulist -U

Also, NetBackup does not play well with the 'SPECTRA/PYTHON' definition. I would recommend you modify the /etc/mhvtl/device.conf and update this to STK / L180. Re-start mhvtl (/etc/init.d/mhvtl stop ; /etc/init.d/mhvtl start)
Any help?

Thanks Mark.

After the modification of /etc/mhvtl/device.conf, from SPECTRA/PYTHON to STK/L180, the NBU 7 backup job works fine.
