 Success: OpenSolaris NDMP

Postby nia » Thu Feb 18, 2010 10:09 pm

I have tested successfully OpenSolaris SUN ndmp with mhvtl-0.18-1 via iSCSi.

See my post here on how to preset mhvtl via iSCSI: viewtopic.php?f=23&t=47

I have found this doc on the internet which helped me thru the steps to setup both SUN NDMP and Networker also. See attachment below.

In Summay:

To install/activate ndmp on OpenSolaris, do the following:

~$ pkg install SUNWndmp
DOWNLOAD PKGS FILES XFER (MB)
Completed 1/1 13/13 0.26/0.26

PHASE ACTIONS
Install Phase 38/38
PHASE ITEMS
Reading Existing Index 8/8
Indexing Packages 1/1

~$ svcs -a | grep -i ndmp
disabled 9:58:05 svc:/system/ndmpd:default

~$ ndmpadm enable -a cram-md5 -u ndmp
Enter new password:
Re-enter password:

~$ svcadm enable ndmpd
~$ svcs -a | grep -i ndmp
online 0:17:43 svc:/system/ndmpd:default

Verify that ndmp sees mhvtl:

I used EMC Networker to perform ndmp dump backups:
