Testing MHVTL with stgt release tgt-1.0.9

Mark,

I know you mentioned before that you wrote the doc for this. Please see below if you can help with my issue ..

I am currently testing mhvtl with tgt using the newer release 1.09 from http://stgt.sourceforge.net/releases/tgt-1.0.9.tar.gz.

I followed these instruction from the doc:

Start MHVTL:

[13:17:0:0]  mediumx IBM      03584L52         8900  -         /dev/sg32
[13:17:1:0]  tape    IBM      ULT3580-TD1      0BN1  -         /dev/sg24

Start tgt:

#tgtd

Setup tgt iSCSI target controller:

tgtadm --lld iscsi --op new --mode target --tid 4 -T iqn.2010-01.us.nimsa:tgt:13:17:0:0:T

Setup tgt iSCSI target lun for mhvtl:

tgtadm --lld iscsi --op new --mode logicalunit --tid 4 --lun 1 --bstype=sg --device-type=pt -b /dev/sg32
tgtadm --lld iscsi --op new --mode logicalunit --tid 4 --lun 2 --bstype=sg --device-type=pt -b /dev/sg24

Allow connection from any iSCSI initiator:

tgtadm --lld iscsi --op bind --mode target --tid 4 -I ALL

# tgtadm --lld iscsi --op show --mode target

Target 4: iqn.2010-01.us.nimsa:tgt:13:17:0:0:T
    System information:
        Driver: iscsi

Now, from a linux inititator: I did the following:

# iscsiadm -m discovery -t sendtargets -p 10.0.0.10
10.0.0.10:3260,1 iqn.2010-01.us.nimsa:tgt:13:17:0:0:T

# iscsiadm -m node -T iqn.2010-01.us.nimsa:tgt:13:17:0:0:T --login
Logging in to [iface: default, target: iqn.2010-01.us.nimsa:tgt:13:17:0:0:T, portal: 10.0.0.10,3260]
Login to [iface: default, target: iqn.2010-01.us.nimsa:tgt:13:17:0:0:T, portal: 10.0.0.10,3260]: successful

# lsscsi -g

[13:0:0:0] storage IET Controller 0001 - /dev/sg6
[13:0:0:1] mediumx IBM 03584L52 8900 /dev/sch0 /dev/sg7
[13:0:0:2] tape IBM ULT3580-TD1 0BN1 /dev/st0 /dev/sg8

All looks good and fine ..

Tried the same on a windows box, and keep getting this:

"The target name is not found or is marked hidden from login"

I know I was able to do this before on tgt 1.08 ?

Any idea ?

Thanks

You need to get rid of that 'T'

The Microsoft iSCSI initiator does NOT like upper case and '_' chars in the target name..

Cheers
